Dave (b. June 11, 1926 (Jackson, Tennessee) worked a number of entertainment bits before the ’60s

exploded and he caught his own security in the shadow in the shade.  As a teen, he was a drummer and

later a scat singer and most successfully for some years in the ’60s he was Brother Dave, the witty fool.

In latter guise he appeared often on “The Jack Parr Show” and sold piles of albums; most notably

Rejoice, Dear Hearts (#5), Kick Thy Own Self (#5), and Ain’t That Weird (#15).

In between roles, Dave found time to be a straight crooner.   After his “cover” of Don Rondo’s “White

Silver Sands” clicked, Garner returned to the Brother bit, followed by relative obscurity…and then the

absolute obscurity.
