The Gone All Stars was a non de plume for the Buddy Lucas Band. Buddy and the boys, sometimes called
the Wigglers, were the house band at George Goldner’s Big Apple-based Rama/Gee/End/Gone stable of
labels. The session in question that produced the Perez Prado take-off was reportedly an unintended jam.
The honker did feature Buddy on sax and probaby was “produced” by Alan Freed, who obligingly rode the
number on his WINS radio program like the disk was fitted with a velvet saddle. Apparently, a lone follow-
up single, under the Gone All-Stars banner, was distributed–“The Gee Gee Walk”–though a highly sought
after EP–a 4-track, then the extended currency of the times–was soon after issued.
