It should’ve happened… multiple hits, a massive career, world recognition and all the rest.

Barbara Martin?

.

Whatever happened to…

Barbara Martin? She was an original member

of the Supremes, the most successful female

vocal group of the 20th century. When the

group signed with Motown records the Supremes

was a foursome. Barbara appeared on many

of the Supremes early singles; none, however, were

hits. Yep, that’s right the Supremes had six singles  issued before their very first top 40 hit,  “When the

Love Light Starts Shining Through His Eyes.

Barbara can be heard on their first album Meet the Supremes though she’s not pictured on the album

cover. She does add vocalizations to some of the album tracks and does get the sing the bridge of “After

All,” does the spoken interlude line during the song “(He’s) Seventeen.”

Give a listen: “After All”

At this point it’s a mystery what did become of Barbara Martin? Why did she leave? Did she ever get the

shot making any more recordings?

Reportedly Barbara Martin has not received any royalties from Motown after 1962.
