Jodie Sands was a mainline pop vocalist–with an extra ordinary voice–from Philadelphia who sang in the
tradition of Eydie Gorme, Giselle MacKenzie, and Kay Starr. But unlike these other songstresses, Jodie
could sound like a sweet but sexually charged kid. Most of her songs had a seductive and slightly sassy
Latin feel. Her solid seller was a cha-cha like teen tune with plenty of “la-la-las” and a deep voiced male
chorus.
